Zelda-Inspired The Girl from Arkanya Reaches Its Kickstarter Goal in Just 24 Hours

Arkanya Games has announced that its project The Girl from Arkanya has managed to reach its Kickstarter goal within the first 24 hours of it going live. The Girl from Arkanya is a retro-tribute to classic 2D Zelda games and brings a unique treasure hunting twist to the formula. The Girl from Arkanya is the tale of Marisa, an aspiring young adventurer who is planning to become the world’s greatest treasure hunter.

She is accompanied by her capybara companion and both of them have to work together in creative ways to solve puzzles and challenges that lie in their way of the treasure. The game utilizes a proven formula and further expands on it to make it better. The start of the game feels pretty much similar to any other top-down 2D title but as you progress in the game, it starts to change quickly as you are tasked with controlling both of the characters of the game.

After some time, Marisa meets Kapi, the capybara, and later it will continue to follow Marisa around as she solves puzzles and finds treasures. You can switch between both Marisa and Kapi at any time and you will have to use both of them in order to solve most of the puzzles in the game. Marisa also has the ability to push, pull, carry, and throw the capybara around which comes in handy for solving different puzzles.

Key features of the game include:

  • Gorgeous retro pixel art graphics
  • A huge expansive world to explore, with 8 dungeons and 10 regions
  • Novel and creative puzzles and situations making use of the dual-character system
  • 36 unique items and hundreds of treasures
  • Item upgrade chains and item combos
  • Many collectible outfits for Marisa and her capybara
  • An upgradeable clubhouse which certain NPCs can be recruited to

You can head over to the official Kickstarter page for the game to check out the campaign and even pledge towards the game if it clicks your mind. The game has already reached its target goal in just 24 hours and is now aiming forward towards its numerous Stretch Goals with 27 days to go.
