Xbox Series X/S Official 1TB Expansion Card Will Set You Back $200

Xbox Series X Expansion card

Microsoft has announced the price of the official 1TB storage expansion card for Xbox Series X/S and it costs a whopping $220. The price was revealed by the US retailer BestBuy where the price for a 1TB official storage cost is mentioned $220. While this is not cheap, the next-gen requires high-speed SSDs to run games so that it can ensure fast-load times and other next-gen benefits.

Out of the box, Xbox Series X comes with 1TB SSD while Xbox Series S comes with a measly 512GB of SSD space available to you. If you are using the console as your primary gaming machine, you will certainly want to upgrade the storage device since 1TB or 512Gb is simply not enough for today’s titles and if you are a hardcore and diverse gamer, chances are that the default space will be only good for you for only a small number of titles.

While third-party SSDs will be supported on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, they could provide a much cheaper alternative but since the games require SSDs that offer a certain read/write speed, you will need some really good third-party SSDs for storage expansion on the next-gen consoles. Xbox Series X/S comes with a particular storage expansion at the rear of the console so you will need to opt for the official 1TB storage if you want to expand your storage.

Microsoft earlier explained that players can also use normal external HDDs with the console for storing next-gen titles or playing older-gen titles but for playing the newer gen titles, the game must be in the internal SSD of the console. So far, we only know of the 1TB storage card announced by Microsoft however chances are that as we progress further into the generation and storage cards become cheaper, we will get some bigger storage options as well.
