Microsoft recently officially revealed Xbox Series S after it was leaked online and now the company has further released additional details about Xbox Series S. Xbox Series S is Microsoft’s smallest Xbox console ever made and it will go on sale for just $300. $300 is a brilliant price for its next-gen entry-level console however coming to the performance, while it will still offer next-gen features, its performance is significantly lower than its bigger brother Xbox Series X.
As revealed in the official specifications trailer, Xbox Series X is almost 60% smaller than the Xbox Series X. Unlike the Series X, Microsoft has showcased the Series S is a white color with a huge black vent on its top side. It also looks more like a console than the Series X which is somewhat bulky thanks to its cuboid design. Despite its short design, Xbox Series S is all set for next-gen performance.
It features the custom NVMe SSD that is present in the Series X based on the Xbox Velocity Architecture, designed to offer great loading speeds and performance. It will offer extremely fast game load times and seamless game switching. Unlike the Series X, the Series S will not have any sort of a disc-drive. It is a digital-only console which is a major reason behind its slim design.
It is an all-digital console however it will be able to run all titles up to 120 FPS at 144hz, offering a smoother gaming experience. It also comes with DirectX Raytracing, Variable Rate Shading, and Variable Refresh Rate offering the best performance in the budget value. The console will offer 4K upscaling for games with 4K streaming media playback. The super-fast custom 512GB SSD will also ensure that the console has ultra-low latency.
Along with that Microsoft has also officially revealed the release date for Xbox Series S. The Series S is launching worldwide on November 10, 2020, and will be available for pre-order soon at select retailers. A release date for Series X is yet to be announced.
