Offworld Industries has just dropped Update 0.8 for their acclaimed multiplayer shooter, Starship Troopers: Extermination, and it’s a game-changer. The new update adds a fresh battleground, Planet X-11, and introduces a revolutionary feature called Carnage, which reshapes how players engage in combat against the relentless Arachnids.
Carnage isn’t just a gimmick; it fundamentally alters the battlefield dynamics. The corpses of slain Bugs now litter the warzone, remaining in place until the Vanguard soldiers can clear them out by shooting, blasting, or burning them away. This addition means that the bodies of your enemies become strategic elements within the environment, creating a constantly shifting combat landscape. The surviving Bugs adapt to this new terrain, using the corpses to reach previously inaccessible areas, adding a new layer of challenge and unpredictability to each encounter.
Planet X-11, the latest addition to the game’s settings, is a Federation mining planet located in the Tibannis system, deep within the Arachnid Quarantine Zone. Recently, it was home to the Teefang Array Deep Space Listening post, a crucial facility for gathering intelligence on Bug activity. Its strategic importance has made it a prime target for Arachnid attacks, plunging it into a state of perpetual warfare. This new planet is packed with content, featuring 2 ARC Locations, 2 Horde Locations, 8 AAS Locations, and 4 Hive Hunt Maps. It’s one of the most substantial updates yet, ensuring players have plenty of new ground to cover and defend.
In Starship Troopers: Extermination, players join forces to fend off the Arachnid threat in a brutal 16-player, team-based FPS environment. Cooperation is key as you complete objectives, gather resources, build and defend your base, and ultimately fight your way to the extraction point.
