DEVBEEF, the developers behind Title_Pending, are thrilled to announce the demo release for their latest title, Dr. Finklestein’s Marvelous Room for PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store. This demo will also feature prominently in the upcoming June 2024 Steam Next Fest.
Check out the Demo Release Date Trailer below:
Set in 1970, the world faces an existential threat from a giant space worm, ominously named the “Dark Doodad,” which is set to annihilate our solar system in exactly 6 months, 14 days, 2 hours, and 47 seconds. While most brace for the end, the eccentric Dr. Gumphrey Finklestein has devised a daring experiment, designating you as humanity’s final hope. “The Marvelous Room Experiment” invites you to participate in this last-ditch effort to save the world.
Inspired by the likes of The Stanley Parable, Dr. Finklestein’s Marvelous Room is a walking simulator that immerses you in a 10m x 8m x 5m space, brimming with story-rich content. Players will meticulously examine fifty community-suggested items, verifying their descriptions and bracing for the potential consequences. This unique experiment delves into the “transfer of objects between worlds,” where your interactions could determine humanity’s survival against the impending Dark Doodad.
On April 1, 2023, DEVBEEF announced a bold initiative to create a game based on user-submitted ideas. Over fifty days, these ideas competed in daily 1 vs 1 showdowns, with the community voting for the most intriguing concepts. The top fifty ideas were selected for inclusion in the game. The demo will showcase the first six winning items, with the remaining forty-four to be revealed in the full game upon release.
Complementing the demo is a distinctive soundtrack composed by Justdos, drawing heavily from jazz and older musical styles to create the game’s unique auditory experience. The soundtrack will also be available later today. You can check out the Demo OST below as well:
Dr. Finklestein’s Marvelous Room is available to wishlist on the Epic Games Store and Steam, with the demo now live for PC players. Follow the progress of the fifty chosen items and learn more about the game by visiting DEVBEEF’s website and official Discord. You can download and try out the game right now through its free demo on PC via Steam. This demo will be featured during the upcoming Steam Next Fest as well.
