In a recent business acquisition, TimeSplitters IP now falls under the care of Koch Media. Timesplitters is best known for its engaging multiplayer back from the 2000 era. The three games in the series have left such an impression that fans wanted more. Sadly, Free Radical Design Studio never made any fourth game.
Koch CEO Klemens Kundratitz said:
“We are hugely excited to have acquired Timesplitters”
However, the recent business acquisition might turn the table. Koch Media now reserves all rights of Timesplittes IP and we may get a fourth installment or a remake of the old three games. Unfortunately, Koch Media has remained silent on details of any work, but the acquisition is surely a positive omen.
Koch Media acquired Timesplitters IP from Crytek. It was rumored in 2007; when Free Radical Studio had rights to Timesplitters, that a fourth installment of Timesplitters was in the works, later, no further news surfaced. Free Radical Design Studio was acquired by Crytek and since then Crytek has not given much information on the work of the fourth installment of Timesplitters.
The original TimeSplitters was released in the year 2000, exclusively on the PlayStation 2 console. It features a first-person shooter genre with level designs between the years 1935 and 2035.
Timesplitters 2 was later released after two years in 2002, on PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube. The Third Timesplitters was titled Timesplitters: Future Perfect, which was also released on PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube. The third game contained online features but they were not introduced in the GameCube version.
The First two games were published by Eidos Interactive but the third game was published by Electronic Arts.
Regardless of who owns the studio, the fan base of the Timesplitters franchise has always looked forward to getting their hands on another game in the series.
