Ubisoft has officially launched Season 1 of XDefiant, the highly anticipated, free-to-play arcade shooter developed by Ubisoft San Francisco. Drawing inspiration from some of Ubisoft’s most beloved franchises, XDefiant offers a fast-paced, faction-based shooter experience. You can download the game on PC via Ubisoft Connect, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S.
Season 1 brings a host of new content, including a brand new faction, multiple maps, free Battle Pass weapons, new game modes, and a ranked play system. Check out the Season 1 Overview Trailer below:
The highlight of Season 1 is the introduction of the GS Kommando faction, inspired by Rainbow Six (R6). This elite strike force comes equipped with signature abilities such as the Shock Wire, which creates a high-voltage perimeter around objectives, and the Active Defense System (ADS), designed to shoot down incoming enemy explosives. The faction’s Ultra ability, Flash Shield, features an LED-studded shield that provides mobile cover. Additionally, their Passive Trait, Hardhat, reduces the lethality of enemy headshots, making them a formidable force in the arena. Check out the new GSK faction in action in the trailer below:
Three new maps are set to enhance the gameplay experience in Season 1. Clubhouse, inspired by Rainbow Six, is available immediately. Daytona, inspired by The Crew 2, and Rockefeller, inspired by The Division, will be introduced later in the season. These new environments promise to bring unique challenges and strategic opportunities for you.
In addition to new maps, Season 1 introduces two new arena modes. Capture the Flag (CTF) is available starting today, offering a run-and-gun, fast-paced race to capture the enemy’s flag while defending your own. Later in the season, Bomb mode will be added, requiring you to adopt a more strategic approach as they take turns defending and defusing a detonator. Check out the Battle Pass trailer below:
Ranked play is also debuting in Season 1, providing a competitive 4v4 playlist that includes Occupy, Domination, Zone Control, and Escort game modes. You will have the opportunity to climb through seven ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Ruby, Emerald, Diamond, and Legends. Each rank, except for Legends, consists of 10 levels that you must progress through to reach the next tier. Exclusive rewards will be available for those who participate in ranked play, adding an extra incentive for competitive gamers.
A new initiative to support content creators is also being introduced with Season 1. The XDefiant Creator Code Initiative allows you to support your favorite content creators by selecting the “Support a Creator” button in the in-game store. You can choose a creator to support, linking them to their account for 14 days. Any in-game purchases made with XCoins during this period will grant the selected creator a commission.
