Developer Upside Down Bird has announced the release window for its team-based arcade action platformer Shroom Siege on multiple platforms. Gamers can look forward to diving into this fungal frenzy on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2025. Adding to the excitement, a new Steam demo will be available on Tuesday, August 6.
Shroom Siege transports players to a vibrant fungus kingdom where they must leverage strategy and skill to dominate the battlefield. Players start as diminutive mushrooms with the unique ability to infect and control various insectoids, creating a dynamic and ever-evolving gameplay experience. The game’s core is its 4v4 multiplayer mode, which promises chaotic and engaging matches where teamwork and quick thinking are paramount.
Check out the new Demo Trailer below:
Victory in Shroom Siege can be achieved through three distinct methods: Shrine, Shogun, and the whimsically named Poop Victory. Each victory type requires a different strategy and offers its own challenges:
- Shrine Victory involves commanding minions to collect small orbs and offering them as tribute to surrounding shrines. This strategy emphasizes speed and caution, as minions respawn indefinitely, making it a safer but competitive option.
- Shogun Victory demands the elimination of the opposing team’s Shogun three times. The Shogun, a mighty flying entity armed with a samurai sword, can decimate adversaries below it. This high-risk, high-reward approach can quickly turn the tide of battle.
- Poop Victory adds a humorous twist by having players mount a Dung Beetle to roll a poopy payload across the map. This method is both satisfying and humiliating, adding a unique flavor to the game’s competitive edge.
The game’s single-screen maps ensure that all characters and strategies are visible at all times, fostering a fast-paced and visually engaging experience. “Shroom Siege” encourages not only quick reflexes but also strategic thinking and effective communication. Players can gather friends for local play or join online matches, benefiting from cross-platform functionality that allows for seamless matchmaking either solo or with a squad.
‘The original version of Shroom Siege was created during the 2023 Global Game Jam’: said Ben Hamrick who is part of the development team at Upside Down Bird. ‘Like a mushroom, the project kept growing, and we hope others will enjoy our wacky, fast-paced multiplayer game.’
With the launch of the Steam demo on August 6, players will get an early taste of what Shroom Siege has to offer. The demo will feature English text initially, with plans for additional language support in the future. If you are interested in trying it out, you can head over to its official Steam page and add the game to your wishlist to stay updated on all upcoming updates and developments.
