With Season 14 of Apex Legends launched just a few hours ago, the new season brings along a new Legend into the game called Vantage. As expected, Vantage comes with her own unique abilities, mixing up the combat style in the game. This Apex Legends Vantage Guide will show you what this new Legend brings as her abilities, and list some of the best tips on how you should use them in combat.
Vantage is a Sniper Savant who although may seem like a good solo character to play but can also provide some help to teammates, especially with her Ultimate Ability that pings opponents that you shoot, effectively highlighting them for teammates to see. Her Tactical Ability is what is going to be most discussed in the new season, as it lets her use her winged companion to relocate to a different place, opening up more ways you can attack from different directions.
Vantage has just been added to the game in the latest update. New Legends can sometimes need tweaks and changes after Respawn Entertainment takes feedback from the players. This means that the Legend is susceptible to some minor changes to its ability over time. Nonetheless, this is what we have learned so far by playing as the new Legend.
Apex Legends Vantage Guide
Before we dive into the combat and general tips when playing as Vantage, let’s first look at all the abilities that are specific to this new Legend.
Vantage Abilities
This list contains all the abilities that come with Vantage.
- Passive Ability – Spotters Lens: Aim down sights to scout with your eyepiece (unarmed or with mid-to long-range scopes) and use a bullet drop indicator to see where your shots will land.
- Tactical Ability – Echo Relocation: Position your winged companion Echo and then Launch towards him. Must have a line of sight for Echo to launch.
- Ultimate Ability – Sniper’s Mark: Use your custom sniper rifle to mark enemy targets and apply a damage bonus for you and your team.
New Abilities and How to Use Them in Combat
The Spotter’s Lens, which is the useful passive ability that Vantage comes with, allows players to get information on opponents with scopes on weapons. Whether you are unarmed, or with a weapon with mid-to-long range scopes, you can get very valuable information that tells you what Legend they are, how far they are, what Shield they have equipped, and most importantly, where the bullet is going to land with bullet drop.
Moving on to the Tactical Ability, which is the one most new players will be excited to see and use in the game. Echo is Vantage’s pet companion who lets you launch yourself to its location. What this means is that you can send Echo to any pinged location of your choice (to a max distance of 40m) and then launch at its position to relocate yourself. This ability takes time, especially if you don’t have Echo to a position you want to relocate to. The animation still takes a little time to launch yourself, which is an obvious combat-balancing trait
Finally, the Ultimate Ability lets you ping an opponent that you shoot. Marked enemies will not only be shown to your teammates but will also apply a damage bonus for you and your whole team.
Best Tips
- You can position or recall Echo at will, while the cooldown period is very short. The best way to start combat is to strategically place Echo in a location that you can launch to.
- While riding ziplines, you cannot relocate or launch yourself to where Echo is
- Echo needs to be in the line of sight for you to launch at its location. This means you cannot relocate if you are behind a wall or an object blocking the line of sight to Echo.
- Don’t ignore the Ultimate Ability and use it to mark enemies all the time. The cooldown period is very short so you can put this ability to good use.
- Spotter’s Lens tells you a lot about opponents, what armor they have, and what distance they are at, allowing you to judge your shots with bullet drops. This gives you more accuracy, unlike any other legend.
- Sniper’s Mark has 5 shots that you can use. If you run out of bullets, you get 1 bullet every 40 seconds until you have a max stack of 5 bullets.
- Use Ultimate Accelerant to get 2 bullets for the Sniper’s Mark weapon. This is a quick way to reload your sniper rifle quickly.
- Use enemy information, like how far they are to judge what damage you can deal with each weapon. If you have a main weapon, you can learn what damage each bullet will deal in regards to the distance shown by Spotter’s Lens ability
