Funcom and Shiro Games have announced Dune: Spice Wars Early Access release date and it is coming later this month. Dune: Spice Wars will begin its Early Access journey on April 26, 2022. Dune: Spice Wars is the first Dune video game after more than 20 years and it will allow players to jump into the action in the universe in an all-new adventure.
Dune: Spice Wars combines real-time strategy and 4X elements and it is based on Frank Herbert’s sci-fi masterpiece. The game will pit four factions against each other on the desert planet of Arrakis which is the only source of the most valuable resource in the universe: Spice. The developer has also taken the liberty of announcing the fourth faction today as well which is called Fremen.
Fremen boast the greater capacity to move across and withstand the open desert. They also have less chance to attract the colossal sandworms and an improved ability to ally with hidden Sietches (neutral native settlements). The Fremen are uniquely poised to expand their area of influence in order to control the planet. They also have the ability to travel to longer areas without getting exhausted.
They use guerilla tactics for combat and can easily use the terrible beast to travel faster and strike on their enemies suddenly. They are also experts at laying down ambushes for their enemies. Their leader is Liet Kynes who is a prominent planetologist of the Emperor. She has a strong command over her people since they believe that she is the key to their freedom from the Imperium and water scarcity.

Dune: Spice Wars will feature four factions Atreides, Harkonnen, Smugglers, or Fremen, each with their own unique powers and weaknesses. Gameplay revolves around four key aspects military power, infiltration, political influence, and resource production and you will have to keep check on all four if you want to survive in the game. Apart from Dune: Spice Wars, Funcom is also working on an open-world survival multiplayer title set in the Dune universe as well.
