Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory is the digital adaptation of the cult classic Paranoia developed by Black Shamrock and Cyanide Studio and published by Bigben. The developers shared a new developer diary which shares additional information about the upcoming RPG.
In the new developer video, the developers share their experience of how hard it was to adapt the tabletop RPG into a video game for the first time. The developers share different aspects of the game development such as the keeping the Paranoia tone alive in the game, making the combat system of the game as good as possible and the unique gameplay of the game. Let’s also not forget the utmost happiness felt by everyone in the team.
The developers share their ideas that how the modern gaming culture has changed and to bring back a cult-classic such as Paranoia, the main challenge was to ensure that the humor stays in the game but since we can’t use the old jokes now, it has to be modern. The developers worked closely with different writers such as Gareth and Bill Odey who have written a lot of lore books on Paranoia.

Players start their journey as a Red Clearance Citizen however as they progress in the game, their Clearance increases based on missions cleared and other progress factors. Friend Computer plays a vital role in the game and he wants you to make your life better. It just wants you to be happy and sometimes can be a little harsh in that. Naturally, not all of the people agree and they become traitors as they try to sabotage systems.
In Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory, you control a team of four Troubleshooters of dubious loyalty who obey orders from Friend Computer. Friend Computer is paranoid and irrational artificial intelligence. This is the first official digital adaptation of the cult tabletop role-playing game and fans will be able to relive their classic memories in virtual form.
Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory is releasing on October 3, 2019, for PC and a console release is planned for later.
