The Sinking City Xbox Series

Indie developer Frogwares has announced that their HP Lovecraft-inspired horror-detective title The Sinking City is now available on Xbox Series X|S as well. Originally released on PC and last-gen consoles in 2019, the latest release sees The Sinking City coming to Xbox Series X|S consoles boasting multiple enhancements and improvements.

This is the digital-only version of The Sinking City and it is now available on both consoles including PS5 completing the next-gen release cycle of the title. The Xbox Series X|S release is solely published by Frogwares themselves. In celebration of the release, the developer has released a new gameplay trailer for The Sinking City which showcases loading times, graphic comparisons, and additional features. Check it out below:

Frogwares has confirmed the following improvements and features for the Xbox Series X|S version:

  • 4K (3840×2160) resolution
  • 60 frames per second
  • Improved graphical fidelity
  • Improved loading times
  • Additional quests – part of the Merciful Madness DLC (included in Deluxe Edition, or as a separate purchase)

The developer has also reduced the price of the game to $49.99 for the base game and $69.99 for the Deluxe Edition. Serge Chervonnyi, Head of Production said:

As the sole owner and publisher of The Sinking City on Xbox Series X and S, we’re keeping with our idea to price our games in a region that feels fair to players.

However, if you already own the PS4 release or the Xbox One release of The Sinking City, you still cannot upgrade to the next-gen version for free because of an ongoing legal battle between Frogwares and the game’s previous publisher NACON. The developer has issued an official statement on this that you can check out on their official website. Make sure to check out our original review of The Sinking City as well.
