Game Modes In V Rising
Upon release, V Rising will offer four distinct game modes for players to select from. Whether you seek competition or collaboration, the decision will be yours as you navigate a sprawling open world filled with mythical creatures and peril at every turn.
Here’s an overview of the four game modes available in V Rising:
- PvE (Player versus Environment): Within these noble lands, vampires unite to reclaim Vardoran, either independently or by joining clans of up to four vampires to conquer together.
- PvP (Player versus Player): Amidst these conflict-ridden lands, vampires vie for dominance in reclaiming Vardoran. Periodically, they siege each other’s castles, raiding for resources and seeking allies by joining clans of up to four vampires to expand their influence.
- Full Loot PvP: In these tumultuous lands, vampires battle for supremacy in reclaiming Vardoran, risking all possessions with each encounter. They may siege castles, conquer, or even obliterate them, dropping all loot upon death. Survival odds improve by forming alliances in clans of up to four vampires.
- Duo PvP: Amidst these war-torn lands, vampires compete for supremacy in reclaiming Vardoran. Periodically, they siege each other’s castles to raid for resources. Rise alone or forge alliances with another vampire to conquer the world together.
Complete Journal Quests To Unlock Mechanics And Features
As you play V Rising, you’ll encounter Journal Quests displayed in the top left corner. While they might seem optional, these quests serve as a comprehensive tutorial, gradually introducing new game mechanics. V Rising doesn’t clearly explain this aspect, so if you’re confused about a feature, it’s likely because you haven’t reached the corresponding quest that explains it.
It’s crucial to complete these quests because they unlock essential in-game rewards such as item recipes, building blueprints, and more. Without finishing them, your progress in V Rising will stall.
To advance in V Rising, prioritize completing each new quest as it becomes available.
Understanding The Blood Pool
In V Rising, the saying “you are what you eat” holds true. When you feed on weakened humanoids and creatures, you adopt their Blood Type and Blood Quality. For instance, feeding on a Brute means you’ll take on their Blood Type and the specified Blood Quality percentage shown next to their name during feeding.
Higher Blood Quality leads to better bonus enhancements, detailed in the stat bonuses displayed when hovering over the Blood Pool. Notably, if you feed on multiple humanoids of the same Blood Type, your Blood Quality won’t accumulate; instead, it will be replaced by the most recent blood quality consumed.
To successfully feed, allow the feed bar to complete fully. Prematurely pressing the Left Mouse Button during feeding results in the victim’s instant death, denying any blood gains or changes to your current blood type/quality.
Combat Basics
In V Rising, instead of the usual point-and-click controls, players will rely on WASD movement and cursor-based aiming for skill shots and evading enemy projectiles. This change offers distinct benefits, especially in PvP scenarios. Combat in V Rising goes beyond typical Sword and Axe gameplay by integrating abilities and magical powers. Players can strategically deploy these enhancements against formidable foes like V Bloods and rival vampires.
Weapons And Armor
In the beginning, V Rising provides four types of weapons that you can craft from your Character menu using common resources. These starter weapons are not the strongest, but they serve as your initial gear until you gain access to more recipes. These recipes allow you to build advanced structures like the Simple Workbench, Smithy, and Anvil, which enable you to create more powerful weapons such as the Crossbow, Slashers, and Reaper, though these come at a greater expense.
Swords: Versatile weapons that cause cutting damage and are particularly effective against plants and dense vegetation.
- Axes: Paired weapons that deliver chopping blows and excel at cutting through wood.
- Maces: Heavy weapons designed for blunt force, effective against minerals and rocks.
- Spears: Long-range weapons that thrust to cause piercing damage, ideal for combatting creatures.
- Crossbows: Ranged weapons that shoot bolts.
- Reaper: A two-handed weapon for slashing attacks, particularly effective against the undead.
- Slashers: Dual blades that slash and are especially effective against vegetation.
Every weapon category provides three distinct Weapon Techniques that you can assign to your action bar. It’s essential to understand that these techniques aren’t immediately available; instead, they unlock progressively based on the gear you equip:
- Weapon Technique 1: Primary Attack – accessible from the start.
- Weapon Technique 2: Unlocked by equipping a Copper or better-quality weapon.
- Weapon Technique 3: Unlocked by equipping an Iron or better-quality weapon.
Magic Abilities
After defeating powerful V Blood bosses, you’ll gain access to various magic spells that can be customized on your action bar. There are five spell categories to choose from: Blood, Unholy, Illusion, Chaos, and Frost. This allows you to mix and match spells to build a diverse set of powerful abilities that suit your playstyle.
Whether you prefer the freezing effects of Frost spells or the lingering burn of Chaos spells, there’s something here for every player.
On your action bar, you can select one Travel Ability, two Basic Abilities, and an Ultimate Ability. These magical skills complement the three unique weapon abilities available for each weapon type.
Vampire Powers
Players can unlock 10 distinct Vampire Powers by completing quests and defeating V Blood carriers. These abilities can be added to the Action Wheel and used to enhance your vampire whenever needed, but only when your character is stationary. These powers offer various benefits such as increased resistance to elements and damage, health regeneration, the ability to shapeshift into different forms to evade humans, enhanced travel speed, and more.
Defeat V Blood Bosses That Are Powerful
Once you construct a Blood Altar in your Castle, you’ll gain the ability to locate potent V Blood carriers scattered throughout Vardoran. Using the Track Blood feature in the Blood Altar menu allows you to pinpoint the exact whereabouts of these NPCs.
Keep in mind, that these NPCs are formidable opponents. However, if you manage to defeat them, you can absorb their powers and knowledge. Each V Blood carrier offers distinct rewards, including abilities like shapeshifting into various forms such as Humans and Bears, unlocking key Castle structures, and obtaining crucial crafting recipes such as empty vials.
Before venturing into the expansive world of Vardoran to confront a V Blood carrier, ensure you have the right gear and potions. Retrieving your belongings after death can be challenging and time-consuming. Thankfully, V Blood carriers are only detectable with sufficient gear, reducing the risk of encountering overpowering bosses.
It’s important to mention that V Blood carriers can be defeated without tracking them. If you encounter one during exploration, you’ll still receive rewards for defeating it.
Run From The Sun!
V Rising stands out due to its dynamic Day and Night cycle, which significantly influences gameplay. Reflecting classic vampire tales, exposure to sunlight causes damage to your character.
- Daylight spans from 10 AM to 6 PM
- Night falls from 7 PM to 9 AM.
While exploring Vardoran is feasible during the day, combat and navigation become challenging due to sunlight-induced damage. Therefore, it’s strongly advised to remain within your Castle during daylight hours to avoid these difficulties.
If you’re caught outside during the day, your safest bet is to return to your Castle gradually, using the trees and their shadows to stay out of direct sunlight. Exposure to sunlight will cause damage after a short delay, but this can be prolonged by using potions and armor recipes rewarded by V Bloods. Remember, stepping back into the shadows resets the damage delay.
Raise Your Castle
Early in your journey, you’ll embark on a Journal Quest that involves building the core of your castle. Your castle serves as your main base where you can store valuable items and assemble a formidable army. Within your castle grounds, you’ll construct essential machinery for refining materials, researching ancient techniques, and creating potent weapons, armor, and stat-enhancing items.
Along with that, your castle provides facilities to detain charmed humans, enhancing your Blood Type and Blood Quality. These humans can be turned into loyal servants who will carry out missions to procure treasure, knowledge, and blood at your command.
To maintain a strong castle, it’s crucial to regularly stock your Castle Heart with Blood Essence. This resource can be acquired by defeating enemies or harvesting from specific sources like Tainted Hearts and Rats. Without enough Blood Essence, your castle will gradually deteriorate and eventually vanish, along with all stored items. This decay can erase hours of progress from the server, making it essential to stay vigilant with upkeep.
Rebuilding a castle from scratch is a challenging task that demands extensive resource gathering and careful planning. Particularly on PvP servers, your castle faces threats from vampire rivals, emphasizing the need for robust defenses. Start by securing your valuables with Vampire Lockboxes, special containers that can store up to fourteen items and protect them from being stolen by other players.
Buffs And Events
Throughout the day and night, World Events can occur unexpectedly. One such event is the Blood Moon, which enhances the effects of your current blood type by 20% and increases your Movement Speed by 10%. Although not game-changing, these buffs during the full night can provide significant advantages in early gameplay, especially when you lack access to Servants and Prisons, where you can quickly improve your Blood Quality.
Another type of random event involves NPC battles. While not classified as a world event, it’s not uncommon to come across NPCs engaged in combat along the roads. If you’re fortunate, you might catch the end of these battles and have the opportunity to collect valuable resources like Bones, Animal Hides, and Blood Essences.
Consider Joining A Clan
Playing V Rising alone is possible, but its main gameplay is better enjoyed with friends and other players. We suggest joining or creating a clan for several reasons. It simplifies taking down V Blood carriers, speeds up resource gathering, facilitates collaborative building and crafting, and enhances castle defense against Vampire raiders.
Plus, clans offer perks such as a private chat channel, disabled friendly fire, and cooperative construction abilities.
